Moved to Des Moines, Iowa Area

We trekked along yesterday at 62 mpg, along the flatland (prairie) of Nebraska.  Very very flat.   And - very warm.  When we got in it was 99 out (we could have stayed in Picacho!).  Thankfully the next couple of days should be in the low 80's.  Just not used to humidity.  And I also forgot what a mosquito was all about - stared at one for the longest time yesterday morning.  Oh - I remember you!
Followed the Platte River all the way into Lincoln

Passed Gothenburg/Pony Express Station
We were expecting to be in flat land all the way to our destination.  But the hills started rolling, up and down, up and down.  Very pretty farms and ranches nestled at the tops of some of these hills.  It wasn't until we got to the campground just west of Des Moines that we checked elevation - thinking with all the hills we would be at higher elevation than we were in North Platte.  We are just below 1000 feet elevation - really surprised us.

Passed over the Platte River for last time near Lincoln
Dropping down into the Missouri River Plain
Again, a long day of mileage - 384 miles and 6 1/2 hours later - sitting at a KOA. We passed along the way the Original Pony Express Station in Gothenburg, then the Great Arch of the Platte River in Kearney (visited it 5 summers ago), then on and on and on on very boring roads.
These little buggers (chickens) going to slaughter house
And over the Missouri River in Omaha
7th state we have been in this summer - so far - and only 6 weeks on the road.
Okay - what are these sculptures all about?  Are they ships?
Not very intuitive - in downtown Omaha
Major wind farm in neighboring town - Adair
Got into Omaha where traffic really picked up and crossed the Missouri River, then started our up and down climb of rolling hills until we got to Des Moines, about another 100 miles further east along Interstate 80.

We will spend today and tomorrow doing shopping and getting supplies in Des Moines, then take off Thursday to head north into Minnesota/Wisconsin area of the Mississippi River.
