Traveling Over the Bighorns to Shell Falls

Once we left the Medicine Wheel, we continued driving along the top of the Bighorns.  Signs posted that we were in bear country, to be wary.  Did not see bear nor moose.  Some day we will!  Our drive was beautiful, majestic scenery of the mountains, wildflowers,  large stands of pine and then large areas of no trees at all.

Large hotel complexes scattered throughout mountains

Majestic mountains
Did not see any evidence of wild fires at all.  People pulled off the road to do fishing in the streams.  Camping all along the mountains.  Riding along about 8000 plus feet, sometimes up to 10,000 feet, saw occasional snow pack, but eventually we had to come down.

Again, glad we did not drive the RV up into the mountains, and then have to bring it down.  Truck run-away-ramps along the downward route, some were used where we saw tracks in the sand.  Majestic panoramas, deep ravines.  Supposed to have wild horses in that area, but we were too intent in watching the road in front of us and sneaking a quick peak out the sides as we dropped dramatically to the floor of the mountains and then out.

Stopped at Shell Falls, took a couple of photos and made the final leg back to Cody.  We were starved and it was late (7:30) so we stopped in Cody for a quick sandwich.  Fun to get back to the campsite - every day a new batch of RVers are in.  We are so close to Yellowstone that people come in just for the night, hookup, sleep, then off by 8am the next morning.
