Three years ago we visited Yellowstone National Park and on the second to last day there, we ventured through Lamar Valley of YNP and out the north east entrance. And drove along the Chief Joseph Highway which is considered to be scenic - actually was breathtaking! Came to a small town called Cooke City (in Montana) and fell in love with that place. Yearly residents are 10 but summer guests are numbered in the 100s as there are lodges, bed and breakfast, hotel.
We wanted to come back to this place and so - we move Monday morning to Cooke City. Really looking forward to being in the mountains, hearing the wolves howl at night, possibly seeing moose. But the downside - absolutely no cell/internet service. Oh well. We want to spend time in Lamar Valley and so when we go there, we will go to the visitor's center and hopefully get connected with their Wifi and get on internet/have cell service.
I am planning on not updating the blog - may be just too cumbersome to do. But once we leave there and head to Helena, Montana, will backtrack and post blogs to give you a feel of Lamar Valley.
We have today to still visit Cody/Wapiti Valley and the weather is finally beautiful. We have had rain every day, starts in the morning as sunny then clouds by noon followed by thunderstorms by 4ish. Good for the valley since threat of wildfires is very low. Tomorrow is laundry, grocery shop - there is not a grocery store in Cooke City, and check emails for last time before moving out Monday.
