Safari in Thermopolis

We had to go see it.  24 years ago we ate dinner at the Safari Club which was located inside - we thought - the Holiday Inn, but it is inside the Days Inn. Back then we had been on a mission, needed to find a big screen TV so we could watch the All Star Baseball game, and after hit and miss, were told to go to the Safari Club - they should be able to accommodate you.

Funny what you remember or don't, or swear it was different.  We both remembered that there were mounted animals all over the restaurant, down the halls, in the lounge, and they are still there.  We also remembered that there was not a lot of them, had spaces between each mounted animal so you could stand back and look at it, not get sensory overload because some other animal was right up against the one you are staring at.  Back 24 years ago we were told that this was the 'zoo' for school children.  Teachers would bring their students there to look at the animals to get a sense of what they looked like since the closest zoo was hundreds of miles away.

If you can't have the real thing - take a picture!
Boys were so excited looking at a picture
What a huge collection now, very little space left on walls. All kinds of animals from all over the world.  Grabbed a quick dinner and on the way out I watched a Mom with 3 boys oohing, awing at each animal as they walked by, pointing at this, saying something about what the boy was looking at.  I guess the Safari Club is doing exactly what the owner wanted it to be - educational for kids.  Fo us - a bit too busy!

Today was a quiet day.  Dave washed down the outside of the RV and especially wanted to get rid of the spider poop.  Yep, they do poop and we have been parked under a huge oak tree, so lots of spiders and debris from afternoon thunderstorms (tree garbage).  We had shade because the temperature every day hit the mid 90's and thankfully it cooled off the high 50s at night so sleeping was not problem. I did some quilting (making a queen-size quilt for friends) and then later Dave will grill salmon.  In the morning we move to Cody, Wyoming - will be half off the grid with no sewer hookup.  They have a honey-cart (portable sewer cleanout system) that will come to us when we need so we should be okay.
