After a very warm day yesterday, and night (was 96 daytime and only dropped to 78 at night), we were glad to get out of Leavenworth. Thursday the temp was supposed to be 99, yikes! Was easy pack up and put away, wanting to drag out feet since it was only 150 miles away, but we still got out of the campground at 8:30. We had a little problem with Buddy and drugging him up, he is getting to the point of spitting it back at us. But, shoved the pill down the throat and almost choked him with water afterward. But, he got drugged up really fast. And, he came out of it faster this time.

Last view out the front of the RV, down to the Icicle River |

Could hear the osprey screeching big time |

Looped up and down to the river and back up |
By the time we had pulled the slides in and pulled up the jacks, he was literally passed out on the floor in the back. Poor cat. And on top of that, we were given a farewell sendoff by 2 ospreys - they were soaring back and forth in front of us, screeching like mad. Pretty cool.

Wenatchee River flowed along US 2 for quite awhile |

Into Tumwater Canyon on our climb up and over Stevens Pass |
Headed westbound on Route 2, up and over Stevens Pass, then did our drop down into Skagit Valley. Passed through small little towns, all the time with swift water running along the roadway. We were very pleased with the RV in climbing up over the pass and the engine holding us back as we descended 3000 feet in 3 miles. That's a pretty steep decline! Dave has been very impressed the Ford V10 engine and brake system. I was a tidge nervous on a couple of bends - had to slow quickly down to 30 miles an hour in order not to loose control. We made it, and are safely tucked in at the campground.

Snow still in mountains |

They are not kidding about the turn and the steep decline! |
|
Loggers and bikers had to be dodged |
When we stopped in Burlington to gas up right before getting to campground, all the loose stuff in the RV had scooted forward and were laying right by the doorway to get out. Had to shove it all back in order to have a pathway, we had that much of an incline down the pass.

Ahhh - the mist of the ocean |
|
Lots and lots of rivers with ocean passage |

Skagit River - hoping to kayak it this coming week |
We are now in Burlington, very close to Anacortes, and the Salish Sea which is the body of water that is above Pugent Sound. Lots of boats around here for sale. We will be here for 2 weeks, have a huge list of things to do and see. Our niece flies in this Friday for a week. Should be a blast! And - the weather here is 25 degrees cooler. Daytime temps will only be 72 to 76, nights down to 56. I like this!
