British Columbia Again and Fletcher Falls

Our time is coming to a close here in the Northern Idaho Panhandle so we decided to go back over to British Columbia yesterday.  Wanted to stop at the visitor’s center in Creston, a good size city just 10 miles north of the Canadian border, and get information on visiting Alberta as well as seeing the rest of British Columbia, some day.  Boy, do they have the literature! We are seriously thinking in another summer to head to British Columbia and Alberta to visit Banff National Park and Jasper National Park.  Just awesome scenery.

So, crossed over the border yesterday morning - got delayed in Customs in Canada - we think we must have been suspicious because we had just traveled to Canada 7 days prior - why were we coming back over?  Never the less, after about 30 minute delay and having our car searched, we were on our way north.  Traveled along the eastern side of the Kootenay Lake, getting to the free ferry to cross the Lake by 11am.  Got the same ferry as the week before.
Driving onto the ferry
Oh, love this scene
I could live in that house
Passed the Osprey 2000, wish we had caught it
We then traveled along the west side of Kootenay Lake, stopped at Coffee Creek, beautiful, to have lunch, then traveled on up to Kaslo.  What a cute little town.  The SS Moyie was docked at the city dock, again stopped in at the Canadian Visitors center to talk with the folks more about visiting Canada in another summer, and got instructions to go find Fletcher Falls.

Can see the glaciers on the Canadian Rockies, looking north
My oh my
That was a bit dicey too, everything is in metrics so the instructions given us were to travel 7 kilometers back south and look for Fletcher Creek Parkway.  We did the conversion of 7 kilometers to what we thought - 4.34 - and drove up and back two times until we found the Parkway.  It was 5.2 miles so we were not sure why they told us 7 kilometers.  Anyhow.  Changed into hiking boots, grabbed water, and down we trekked.
Dave liked this creek's name - Coffee!
Beautiful!!!!  The spray from the water was so intense that I was afraid the camera was going to get ruined.  Got down to the bottom, went out and stared out at the Lake, just dreamy.  Still see snow packed mountains (glaciers) and the water was so calm.

SS Moyie sits at dockside in Kaslo

Drove back to the ferry, crossed on the Osprey 2000, crossed back into the US (no problem entering), and got back to the RV by 7pm.
We hear the falls, can't see it

So much mist, hard to get a picture right at base of waterfall
Standing back looking at Fletcher Falls

What a grand day.  British Columbia is so stunning, so laid back.  We were the only ‘foreigners’ going across and coming back.  Since we did not have any Canadian money, we did not buy anything on purpose.  But when we do go some summer, will have to have converted money, and also have international plan for our phones.  Minor problems.  So looking forward to visiting BC in the future.  Just as beautiful yesterday as it was a week ago.
Yay! We finally got on the Osprey 2000
We had to store up the memories of this area, just stunning
